Caladium is a striking tropical plant known for its large, heart-shaped leaves that come in an array of vibrant colours and patterns. Ranging from bright pinks and reds to lush
greens, Caladiums can transform any garden or indoor space into a lush, eye-catching display. Growing Caladiums is relatively straightforward and rewarding. They prefer partial shade to filtered sunlight and a well-draining, rich soil, ideally with organic matter like compost to enhance fertility. Best planted in pots or containers and kept in a warm environment, or if growing outside, plant Caladium tubers in early summer when the soil temperature is consistently warm. Sow the bulbs at a depth of 5 to 10 centimetres, spacing them 15 to 30 centimetres apart and be sure to harvest the bulbs prior to cooler weather in Autumn. Store the bulbs in a warm environment and plant again next Summer.
